The Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has issued a key statement regarding the use of banned apps. It has made it clear that no personal penalties or action will be taken against those who use banned apps such as Pubby, TickTalk and UC Browser. Asked under the Right to Information Act what action would be taken against those who use banned apps, the Center said, "No." However, the Center has clarified that only the intermediaries (companies) identified under Section 69A will be fined for non-compliance with government prohibitions. Meanwhile, it is known that the central government has recently banned many apps related to China. However, despite the Center banning many apps, some are still using those banned apps. Some have questioned the Center through RTI as to what steps are being taken on the use of banned apps in this context.
