“From today, people across India can send money through WhatsApp. This secure payment experience transfers money just like sending a message. "People can safely send money to a family member or share the price of goods remotely without having to exchange money in person or go to a local bank." In a blog post, WhatsApp stated.
That means you can now send money to your friends and family as easily as you send a message via WhatsApp. There is also no fee for this. Moreover, it is supported by more than 140 banks.
In fact, 160 banks support UPI payments and if both the sender and the receiver have a UPI linked bank account, they can send and receive money.
