Instagram Lite App Launch
Social media giant Facebook has launched a new app as a sequel to its Instagram app. Like Facebook Lite, it has launched a new app called 'Instagram Lite'. It works on low power phones and is available for download on the Google Play Store. Facebook has clarified that this app only takes up 2 MB of space. Like Facebook Lite, Instagram 'Lite' will consume less data. In addition, the app can be accessed even in remote areas where the network is not working properly.
It is designed for basic smartphone users. Facebook said that the interface of the app is similar to the old version of Instagram. This app does not include the Dark Theme option on Instagram. Also, it does not have the dedicated IGTV, Reels tab options like the Instagram app.
All videos uploaded on the Instagram Lite app will play as standard videos. Just like in the old version it also has an Explore button in the bottom menu. It seems that this light version has been made available to attract more customers in India and increase the number of their users. In particular, the app is designed for new Internet users, basic smartphone users, and rural users with low internet speeds. Facebook unveiled the new app at the recent 'Fuel for India-2020' conference.
In recent times the social media giant Facebook has been focusing on creating the newest apps for various business needs. It plans to reach out to small businesses through these apps. Meanwhile, Facebook has provided another latest update to WhatsApp users. State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank and Axis Bank have made UPI transactions possible in its WhatsApp payments.
