Since WhatsApp is a must-have for everyone, many people have enabled a setting that is available internally. It is therefore best to disable it in the light of recent privacy issues.
Do you want to integrate into Google Drive to back up your entire chat from time to time on WhatsApp? Naturally we do this to consume the storage on our phone. In this context, there is a major problem with backing up your WhatsApp into Google Drive. Your chat plain will be backed up during this backup. No encryption will be applied on it. For this reason anyone who can access your Google Account can easily access that database and find out the amount of your chat in it.
iPhone users running the iOS operating system face a similar risk. They set up a chat backup into their iCloud account. There will also be backups as a chat plain. So whether you are using Android or iOS, the whole thing is to change the setting so that the chat is backed up to the cloud storage instead of backing up to your local storage, i.e. WhatsApp on your phone from time to time. This will keep your chat safe.
Especially in the recent Mumbai drugs case where it is known that chat backup was extracted from Google storage based on exactly the same method and the investigation continued. This is true in the case of criminal investigation, but in the case of privacy of individuals, this option is very risky. So it is better to open your WhatsApp application immediately and select Local Backup instead of Google Drive and iCloud in the backup options.
