Facebook pays Google employee Rs. 44 lakhs
Bugs are bugs that occur in hardware or software related to apps, websites. These bugs make the program not run properly and make it easier for hackers to get into a computer or mobile and steal our valuable information. That is why popular apps offer lakhs and crores of prize money to those who invent bugs. Facebook also runs a joint 'bug bounty' program. However, problems keep coming up due to a bug. In this context, Facebook has offered a huge prize to a Google employee who recently discovered a bug in the Facebook Messenger app.
Natalie Silvanovich, a member of the Google Project Zero Bug-Hunting security team, has discovered that a bug in the Facebook Messenger app could allow hackers to listen to their audio calls without user permission. She said the bug was present in Android mobiles. This bug issue was brought to the attention of Facebook. Silvanovich was awarded $ 60,000 (approximately Rs. 44 lakhs) as a gift for identifying the defect.
Facebook says it has now fixed a bug issue identified by Silvanovich. In the current age of digital transformation, cyber attacks have become a big business. Ethical hackers, along with some companies, are making billions by finding and fixing bugs in the software of multinational companies.
