Train Ticket Refund Rules Cancellation Charges Of Irctc E Tickets

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) sells tickets online for Indian Railways. Many people use this app to book train tickets. Tickets can be booked through the https://www.irctc.co.in portal or through the IRCTC Rail Connect app. There are many payment options available to us. Pay Letter (Buy Now Pay Letter), Credit Card, Debit Card, UPI options are there. There is no cash on delivery option. This means that all e-tickets have to be paid in advance. But in some cases the train ticket has to be cancelled. Then no need to worry about refund

There are two categories for refund in case of cancellation of e-tickets issued by Indian Railways. One is to cancel the preparation before the chart is prepared and the second is to cancel after the chart is prepared. Amount will be refunded minus some charges within 5 to 7 days of cancellation depending on your payment mode.

How before the chart is prepared?

E-tickets purchased through IRCTC website or app cannot be canceled offline. It has to be done online. It should be remembered that the chart is usually prepared only a few hours before the departure of the train.

How to do it on the website?

First go to IRCTC website www.irctc.co.in. Login using your credentials.

Click on the booked tickets tab. You have to select the train tickets you want to cancel. If you select and cancel, the tickets will be cancelled.

How about the app?

IRCTC Rail Connect app should login.

On the home screen go to Train and click on My Bookings. Upcoming, Completed appears. In that click on Upcoming. Select the train tickets you want to cancel. Then the menu button will say.. If you click on the Cancel Ticket button, the ticket will be cancelled.

How are the charges?

What are the cancellation charges if canceled 48 hours before departure from the train station?

  • AC first class or executive class will charge Rs.240.
  • For AC 2nd tier or first class Rs. 200.
  • For AC 3 Tier/AC Chair Car/AC 3 Economy Rs. 180 will be charged.
  • Sleeper class cancellation charge Rs. It is 120.
  • For second class Rs. 60 will be taken.

And before 12 to 48 hours?

If the ticket is canceled within 12 to 48 hours before the departure of the train, it will take a little longer. Ticket rates are up to 25 percent off. If the train is canceled within 4 hours of the departure of the train, 50 percent of the ticket rates will be charged if the chart is not prepared by then.

IRCTC has clarified that it is not possible to cancel the e-ticket after the chart is prepared. At such a time, users should file online TDR and keep track of it from time to time.
