If we receive a call from an unknown number on our phone, we lift it thinking that someone we know is doing it. But unbearable anger comes when it learns that it is from customer care. These are called spam calls. Such spam calls often come to us too. In particular, it must be said that spam calls are high for our Indians. The same thing was revealed in the latest Insight report released by True Caller. India is also among the top 10 countries receiving the most spam calls by 2020. India ranks 9th in the list. However, the number of Indians receiving spam calls has dropped drastically compared to the previous year. Globally, the Truecaller report shows that spam calls have increased by 18 percent.
The report states that by 2020, users will receive a total of 31.3 billion spam calls. Brazil topped the list of countries receiving the most spam calls. In Brazil the user receives an average of 50 spam calls per month. Brazil is followed by the US, Hungary, Poland, Spain, Indonesia, the UK, Ukraine, India and Chile. However, due to the lockdown implemented in the country for the corona virus building, it has become impossible for telemarketers to go to offices and work. As a result, various companies did not have the opportunity to promote their offers and services. Thus, the number of spam calls to Indian users has decreased this year as compared to the previous year.
India dropped to ninth place in three years.
In 2017, India was the country facing the highest number of spam calls in the world. However, the truecaller report states that India has slipped to ninth place in these three years. This year, Indian users received an average of 16.8 spam calls per month, the report clarified. Truecaller claims that about 52 percent of users receive spam calls from mobile operators as part of promotions of offers and data plans. About 34 per cent of users received promotional calls, surveys and political calls from telemarketing companies. Gujarat tops the list of states receiving the highest number of spam calls with 13.5 per cent. It is followed by Andhra Pradesh (9.5 per cent), Uttar Pradesh (9.5 per cent), New Delhi (7.5 per cent) and Karnataka (7.1 per cent).
